Just a quicky.............The time for Tomatina has arrived........ when a lovely small town just out of Valencia called Bunol is decended upon by roughly 40,000 people (and I´m sure growing every year) to throw 100,000 kilos of tomatos at each other !!! check out www.latomatina.com for pictures until I can get there, get covered and put up some pic´s of my own!!
So after visiting Valencia and Bunol, it´s back to Barcelona for Pearl Jam on Friday 1st (I can´t believe it´s September already, I must be getting old, time is flying). Speaking of flying, on the 3rd I will be heading back to Scotland for a short brake and Simon has convinced me that the fioirds of Norway HAVE to be seen, so a trip over there before I figure out where to head next. My spanish isn´t up to scratch yet so maybe back here to work on that!!?
If you appreciate really clever videos you have to check this out www.okgo.net/video.asp IT´S GREAT!
BESOS X X Spain so far..........So Spain and of course Spanish......... of course the latter is harder to get to grasps with!! Spain and it's way of life are perfect (almost) The men are..... rather random, have met the ocassional nice one, but due to cultural differances they are more "forward" than I am used to ie "are they your real breasts....?" NICE, smooth, no? Barcelona as a city is GREAT, not being a fan of the 'big city' Barcelona has been a great in between, with a very bohemian feel, great art and a really relaxed feel. Have checked out most of the clubs here (of which there are many) and managed to stride my way into VIP areas with my class mate and great friend Camille, just by looking as if we belong there and any attempt to stop us may end in a VERY large argument!!!
Spent last weekend in Zaragoza, Spains 5th largest city and situtaed between Barcelona and Madrid. Very pretty but very dead, Of course every second (if not more) shop had a sign up saying when they where due back from vacations.... we were in Zaragoza, they were in Barcelona, oh well.
NEWS FLASH
Cammile and I are not only heading to Valencia for a week to participate in the tomato throwing festival, upon our return we have tickets to see PEARL JAM in Barcelona!! How very exciting!!! Long time no update!!!Hola to all,
It´s been a while since i wrote but I have a very good reason..... SCHOOL. It´s alot of fun but very intense and demanding, it also seems to be hurting my brain!! I will be posting pic´s soon (just a matter of pulling my finger out). Went to San Fermin in Pamplona at the weekend, partied all night, met lots of interesting (to say the least) people and drank lots of calimocho (red wine and coca cola). Never ran with the bulls, far too drunk, for that matter I never actually saw any bulls!! saw people running, very far ahead of the bulls! so I´ll try and get some pic´s up and perhaps have some more adventures (tomantina fest next month, the one where you throw tomatos at everyone, going to that for sure). Take care X It´s a small, small world.....Well, I decided to just head to Italy that night and bought my ticket for a seat only (knowing I would pay the price with lack of sleep) from Split to Ancona. Within half and hour had met 2 other aussie guys Brett and Jason, that where in the same situation (not to say that aussies are tight arses!!). We got on well, and attempted to sleep on the floor, didn´t really work but we were all heading to Venice so decided to go together. Got a hotel room for the 3 of us and headed off for some proper Italian food. What we had, infact was the worlds most ordinary pasta followed by 2 flat pints each served by Indians (we didn´t realise till it was too late). 88 Euros later - at a rate of €7.50 a beer we searched Venice for something cheaper to eat. We did find this in the shape of pizza in a cone!! what a great idea, they fill a dough cone with your filling and then cook it!! €3, and pizza juice all over my white linnen trousers later, I was happy!!
Made my way accross Italy to catch the ferry to Barcelona. Booked into a cabin this time (learnt from past mistakes) and went for the 4 bedded cabin that you share with 3 random other females. To my HUGE surprise, when I got to my cabin, sitting there was a friend Kimbo, from Hopetoun Western Australia!!! Not only on the same ferry but my cabin mate as well!! The night then began and we wandered the bars and disco´s of the ferry having a great time and catching up on all the gossip. So it REALLY is a small small world!
In Barcelona now, signing up for my course and attempting to get a tan, will add pic´s tomorrow.
Watched Australia get robbed by Brazil, but the bar went to watch it had a great atmosphere and also offered a beer if your team won and a tequila if they lost............. It only numbed the pain slightly!!
CroatiaCOME ON AUSSIE, COME ON, COME ON, COME ON AUSSIE COME ON!!
How happy/good are we!!What a game...... Anyway, just very proud.
So Croatia, So far it's been great, went to the Island of Hvar after the footy and then hired a boat yesterday with 3 Aussies that I've met along the way. They showed us how to drive it and I got to be captain for half an hour!! We went to a bay and I decided to be useful and moor the boat. Unfortunatly this involved jumping off the front of the boat (hanging in my case) and trying to clamber up very sharp coral. A few scrapes later, I tied the boat up and realised that I had actually stood on a heap of sea urchins and their spines are now imbeded in my foot...... NICE! Decided not to go with the urine cure (soaking your foot in a bucket of wee) and will hopefully be cured with magic cream that the pharmacist found very funny when she gave it to me..... supposidly it happens alot.
Watched Croatia put up a great fight against Brazil, although in Hvar there were only tourists, and all the Croats stayed at home to watch it.......... not the atmosphere I'd hoped for but oh well, a good time was had by all.
Back in Split today, considering my options, might just head to Italy tonight..... will see. |
